Hotel was awesome, but then to get a queen instead of 2 double beds for my wife and I was an 'upgrade' as well as parking our car another 'upgrade'... our $75/nit quickly turned into $100/nt for basic necessities.<BR/> The hotel was awesome, d the location was awesome. They were friendly. Everything was great - just didn't like the tactics - left a bit of a sour taste.

Positives: 15 min walk to downtown. Awesome!

Negatives: We are a couple, and given 2 double beds. Getting a queen or king required an upgrade fee per night. Parking was another upgrade. Felt underhanded.

Atlantica Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Select) caters to Business Travelers, as well as families of hospital patients. It is well located and has everything you need -- full service restaurant, etc.

Positives: Excellent location.

Negatives: Steep charge ($17/day) for underground parking.

The staff was very friendly. We had a lovely room with a wonderful view. The pool looked clean although we didn't go swimming. We loved having duvets on the bed instead of bedspreads.

Positives: It was in a nice, safe location across from the commons where there was lots of activity going on.

Negatives: The parking is $17.00 so we parked on the street.

Nice, clean hotel. Probably not worth the everyday price, but a great deal on Priceline!

The atmosphere is great. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly stay again. Will recommend this hotel to everyone.

for a 4 star, this room was a huge disappointment. it smelled of stale smoke, and when we arrived well passed check in time, the room still had not been vacuumed and had pet hair all over the carpet. when we arrived, we were told a wedding was taking place and that we had gotten the last king-sized bed. so i knew we were stuck with it. compared to staying here earlier in the week, this was a huge let down. i shouldn't have had to pay for this room.

Negatives: i would expect this quality of room to be on the side of the highway connected to a garage.

Not bad considering the last time I was here the place was in much need of a reno, staff were super friendly and the renos looked great. Didn't try the restaurant but should have - very happy to see so many NS wines on the list!

The Hotel Atlantic was a great place to stay in Halifax. It is within walking distance of Spring Garden Road, and has a range of useful amenities.

Positives: Good location, and affordable pricing.

Negatives: Parking garage was somewhat cramped.

I have stayed at the Atlantic before and have enjoyed it very much. I have not eaten at the hotel recently but in the past the food/service was fine.The location is great for moving around town; close to the Spring Garden area yet Quinpool Road is on the other side, plus the quick access to Robie Street can take you to the Halifax Shopping Centre. My child attends DAL and this hotel is very well situated for our needs. The service/staff have always been excellent

Negatives: A little more visible video camera in the underground park area, for singles traveling.

The Atlantica was a pleasant surprise! It was very classy in the lobby and the rooms were very nice. The hotel supplies Aveda bath products which is a bonus since they are such high quality. The pool and fitness area was top notch, the hot tub was hot, the sauna was hot, everything was perfect.

Positives: I loved the Aveda toiletry products since they are natural and organic.

Negatives: The pool and fitness area closes at 11pm and we would have liked to use it after that time since we were out until 11pm.

Staff was friendly, beds were very comfortable. It is in a nice location but a bit of a walk to downtown. We didn't use the pool or restaurant so I can't comment on those.

Hotel is in a convenient location, however the address is confusing. It is near all amenities and has a great view of the park (North facing) and a distant view of the water, however it is not located right downtown which would be ideal.

Positives: Hotel is has suitable accommodations and the staff is exceptionally friendly. It is in a good location although not right downtown as I was hoping for.

Negatives: The hotel is dated and it charges for parking when free parking is available on street.
