We were extremely disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The only parking was crammed in the back and they kept your keys in case they needed to move the cars. Everything inside the hotel was outdated. The furniture was old and ratty. The staff seemed clueless and short at times. We did not feel welcome whatsoever. The room was absolutely horrible. It was small, it stunk like Aqua Velva and dust. The bathroom was a closet, complete with a dirty shower. The walls were unfinished with improper wiring. And to top it all off there was a spider squished into the ceiling. We were crammed into a very small room on the very top floor while just about every other room in the hotel was empty, and much larger.

Travelodge Doral is right downtown and very close to the War Museum which was extremely convenient for us. The staff was great and friendly at all times. There is a 24 hr store across the street which caters to the hotel guests in the area and offers a pretty decent variety of goods. The room itself was small but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room so that wasn't too big of an issue, if we had children with us, it would have been too cramped in the space. The only negative about the room itself was the fact that there were some repairs that were required. Everything worked in the room it was just obvious that the caulking needed replacing, some tiles needed replacing and that sort of thing. In the overall experience, these things made no difference in the actual comfort of the room, but if esthetics were important some would give a lower rating for these issues. There were no restaurants or pool onsite but the hotel did offer a free continental breakfast each morning which offered a surprising variety of goodies. The chocolate chip muffins were awesome! The hotel also offered guests free wireless internet which was very helpful and convenient throughout our stay in Ottawa. Overall, we had a great room for the price we paid and were very happy with it. We would definitely go back to the area and stay at the same hotel again, as well as refer friends/family to the hotel.
Positives: It was downtown & close to everything we wanted to see.
Negatives: Some things were in need of repair.
