As a fan of period furniture and antiquities I was crushed before I even got in the front door-weather proffing was painters tape. There was not a area that did not require repair. The furnitue throughout was stuff the Salvation army would not want. TV-rabbit ears-one channel-microwave either not working or made in 1950. Dining area and kitchen littered with everthing-windows covered with 4 ml poly-elctrical plates and switches that were corroded or did not work( that might have been a blessing). The entire house should be raised as it would be imposssible to restore the place ,given the condition. would have left immediately but because of the hockey tournament there was no place to go. Grin and beared it but was awful happy to put that place behind me. What is a shock is , that the City officals allow this place to operate period. It definitely is a health and fire hazard. Oh yes- the place always smells like smoke-boiler is wood fueled????

What a beautiful house with so much potential.........but what a pig stye... it was filthy dirty. The entire house. when I decided to take a bath in my suite the taps fell off. There was a hand held shower just laying in the tub. no where to hook it. No lights worked the tv had one channel and she gives you the code for internet but doesn't say what it is exactly. When i looked for her to see what it really was she also was no where to be found. Got a look at the dining room, what a mess. Christmas tree with falling needles all over the place fallen over against window. It makes me sick to think she never changed the sheets. She did not clean in between me and the last guest. and further more she doesn't even care what people say cause she can read all this as well as us. She is one crazy lady..... gas burners on stove blarring away, and she was nowhere to be found. Breakfast was a joke. oh my gosh. you would think she would at least try to make you something special. nope burnt toast on plain old white bread. thank god for McDonalds. the front of the house has so much potential but what a mess. take your shoes off in the front entrance to walk on filtht floors. she can say there are hardwood floors but not a thing done to them, wonder when she last washed them. I just wish that the people that booked me there would have read the reviews before they booked me there. and the pictures on her wall in the only warm place in the house, her room, yikes is she a witch as well? never never will i stay there again. i hope people read the reviews when they stay here first.

The inn keeper demands cash up front, no credit cards debit etc. i think she does this,so she gets your money as much as you will want to leave. Not just dirty filthy- hairs in tub, dirty sticky sheets, bugs infesting the rooms, dirty old dishes, over all very unpleasant.Breakfest is the same meal everyday. The house is very cold as she is too cheap to heat it.
Let me just say you have been warned!!

I saw one of the rooms in this INN while watching a movie... The movie hardly did it justice! I am a fan of architecture and really admire this house.. It is just like staying in a castle. A place i'm sure my son would love to play hide and seek in as there are so many stair cases, and tonnes of rooms..
I was worried about getting lost in the house, but with everyone there being so friendly, you tend to feel right at home! Can't wait to go back and do more exploring!

My husband was going to Saskatoon on business, and I went along for company and also to celebrate our one-month anniversary. I found the Calder House online..it sounded great and the pics looked beautiful. When we got there, the innkeeper was quite surly and unfriendly. The house is gorgeous from the outside...built in 1905, I believe, and very Edwardian in appearance. The suite was charming in a creaky sort of way, too...very old, but quaint and cozy. We unpacked and went out to dinner. When we got back, the heat, which was furnished by radiators, was cranked up to sweltering. She was nowhere to be found. We settled into bed and found a mattress that was at least 50 years old and FILTHY! My lungs slammed shut, and I wheezed and coughed all night; there's no telling what was living in that horrible mattress. The bathtub was filled with black flecks; it was gross. We finally packed our bags at 5:00 a.m. and left a message saying not to fix breakfast; we went out and got our own. She seemed not to understand about the filthy bed and tub. Later that day, we went to the Saskatoon Tourism office...we found out that THE SASKATOON HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD BEEN CALLED ON HER NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS!!!!!! They seemed to know how nasty a B&B it was; they had heard horror stories about it, telling us that she had been shut down several times. Never again! How gross...my worst bed and breakfast experience EVER!!!
