I just got off the phone with the owner of Motel Minden. I had originally booked a room for the night of August 23rd. I was at a wedding, and as the night progressed, my partner and I decided that we might just head on home.

We called the motel, and an employee picked up the phone. When we asked about the cancellation policy, she said she didn't know (new employee). She said she did not believe there was a fee associated with canceling, and that she would have the owner call us back.

We gave her two different cell phone numbers to reach us on, and waited for a phone call. At 1AM we still had not received the phone call, so we assumed there must be no fee. We went home.

About 15 minutes ago, the owner called me to inform me that I would be paying the FULL PRICE of the room, as there is a full price cancellation fee if you do not call 24 hours before the date of your reservation. Myself and my partner would have just slept at the motel if we knew we would be charged the full price - why not!

Now, I understand the policy. They were holding a room for us, and they would have had to turn people down if they were full. However, I am absolutely appalled at the lack of customer service. The employee who answered the phone had no idea about the cancellation policy. She actually said she did not believe there was any policy. She also assured us that the owner would call us back immediately.

He called us back 2 days after. He also proceeded to yell at me over the phone, as I tried to explain our situation. He did not believe me when I said that if I had of known I would be paying the full price, I would have just stayed at the motel.

I would not recommend this business, as the customer service was appalling. I will most definitely be staying elsewhere next time I am in the area.
