Greybeard's B&B, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia
Greybeard's hosts Bob and Rosanna Higgins are living a decades-old dream. They welcome guests with fine Maritime hospitality - offering them a relaxing pause in their journey, a good night's sleep, and a memorable breakfast.
"Our house was built in 1887 for Captain William Howard Hebb (1863-1947) of Lunenburg," says Bob. See photo and partial newspaper clipping below. "For 25 years Captain Hebb commanded Brigs and three-masted schooners to many ports of the world, having the reputation of being one of the leading deep sea captains of his day."
Lunenburg, founded in 1753, is a charming small town with a remarkable history of sailing ships and iron men. Bluenose and Bluenose II were both built in Lunenburg. The solid boatbuilding background expresses itself in the architecture - residences, churches and a National Heritage Site, the Lunenburg Academy.
