We stayed at Embleton House for two weeks, and were given the smallest room in the house, in the BASEMENT, and still paid the same rate as much larger rooms. While the house is very clean, our room was terribly hot, as there is very little ventilation, and no natural light (basement). There is no parking provided, so we were told to park on the street. Well, there is a serious drug and alcohol problem in Yellowknife, and sure enough, our rental car was vandalized - they broke out a window, which we had to pay to replace. The location close to downtown is both a blessing and a curse because of the drug and alcohol troubles. The homeowner smokes, and the smoke was often smelled in the basement, even though the website clearly states No Smoking allowed. We were excited about staying at Embleton House, but were very disappointed with our invoice (we assumed we were getting a discount because of the tiny room and the long stay - you can't assume anything when it's ALL ABOUT MONEY). Horrified, we asked for a discount and all they would do is $100 off our bill, which was still over $1500.00. We cannot recommend Embleton House for any reason - save money and go elsewhere.
