My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Holdsworth House in August 2010 for a 5 day visit. The house was nicely and authentically decorated to the 1850's and was comfortable. It was easy to imagine what life would have been like in the 19th century The fireplace was the focal point of the kitchen and the parlour and sitting room were formal but inviting.

I had no urge to watch TV or follow any 21st century pursuits while there. Very relaxing. The chiming clock was a nice touch.

A short walk gets you to the downtown and the wharf.

The staff was helpful and friendly and the place was clean.

Good backyard over looking the bay too.

Positives: Close to great golf course, day trips and grocery stores.
Nice restaurants downtown.

Negatives: It would have been nice to have outdoor activities like croquet or badminton available. They were probably there and we missed them.

The owner of the estate was really rude on the phone to me and belittled my knowledge of almost everything that was discussed.

The house was rather dirty,so my family had to clean much of the house. Also, in the walls and ceiling I could hear scurrying so there very well could have been a pest control issue.

The re-enactment (which is was was apparently so great about the house) was unavailable.
