My daughter, her husband, our grand-daughter ,my wife and I drove to Fregus to check out the Scottish bar and enjoy some pub food. The beer was great but the food was poor. I had a beer and beef pot pie with a side order of chips. The chips were blackened, over cooked and soggy. I asked the young waiter to take them back and have the cook make some fresh chips. He returned with the same soggy mess of overcooked chips. The pot pie wasn't much to write home about either. It came topped with philo pastry and consisted of chunks of beef swimming in a thin gravy. I've had much better beef pies in England and Scotland, steak and kidney pies with a crusty pie topping, and the beef and kidneys in a thick gravy. Nonetheless, the beer was good, in particular the best bitter.
