ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING!

We are nature lovers and heard from friends about East Sooke Park and this gorgeous cottage on the shores of the Sooke Basin. Under advisement, we booked a stay and it ended up being BETTER than their description and photos.


When we walked into this charming cottage, the unobstructed views of the Sooke Basin was phenomenal! The large windows showcased a cute island just offshore; from the deck the only noises that broke the stunning silence were ducks, geese and throaty grunts from herons. Later in our stay we witnessed jumping salmon, seals, herons, eagles, owls and what we thought was a playful otter family.

From the upstairs bedroom, the view was breathtaking No words or photos can describe it... honestly. We were above the trees with an expansive view of the entire basin. It was strange to see birds flying BELOW us. And this is the heavenly view that we awoke to each day!

We thought we were going to discover more of the East Sooke region but we ended up spending most of our time at the cottage sunning on the huge dock, reading on the benches at the water's edge, warming ourselves around the pot-belly stove and enjoying our wine on the deck.

I've been around the world and have only witnessed a few of these magical views that defy description.
